My name is Michelle Neal and I am a Social Studies teacher at TrekNorth, as well as the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator. This is my third year at Trek, and in Bemidji. I teach United States History and Foundations of Social Science. I received my undergrad and post secondary degrees from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in History, Political Science, and Social Studies Education. In the
cities, I volunteered and student taught in different educational of environments; large classes (35 students), urban classrooms, remedial classrooms, open classrooms, suburban classrooms, and integration districts. By far, TrekNorth is the best environment I have experienced because of small class sizes and emphasis on academic skills.
I also believe in the outdoor program at TrekNorth and participate in the backpacking, climbing, and paddling trips. These trips provide students education in self sufficiency and self confidence, and their
progression can be amazing. Looking into the program at TrekNorth as an education option is a wise choice for students in the Bemidji area if you want a challenging academic schedule, good teachers, and outdoor adventure. |
