O'Beirne - Special Education Paraprofessional - lobeirne@treknorth.org
Being a member of the TrekNorth family since August 2006, I
am confident in saying this is both a challenging and satisfying
school to add my talents to. My background is in Life Science
Education with a B.S. from Bemidji State University, but I
anxiously accepted the opportunity of working with the TrekNorth
Jr. High Special Education program.
Home sweet home for me will always be the Shevlin, Minnesota
farm my wonderful parents raised ten amusing children on and
have worked admirably to maintain. I follow my heart home each
summer and work in the vast hayfields with my strong yet soft-spoken
father’s
advice for me ever in my mind. “When you’re feeling
down, work. When you’re angry, work. When you’re
happy, work.” I
also carry his treasured wisdom to TrekNorth and remind my students
to always do their best.
The emphasis TrekNorth puts on being respectful and accepting
is a major part of what makes my work at this school so rewarding.
TrekNorth Special Education well supports my own view on quality
education by focusing on the importance of knowing the needs
of each individual student, doing our best to meet those needs
while balancing modifications with discovery learning. It is
often more valuable to uncover information than to cover information,
and I continue to be anxious to witness and experience many more
discoveries to come. |
